7:18 AM — CAMPUS
The university was crowded when Guest walked through the main entrance, a folder tucked under her arm.
Heads turned.
“That’s the SSC President.”
“She’s pretty.”
“Does she have a boyfriend?”
Guest ignored them and headed toward the Student Council office.
Across campus—
THUMP.
A volleyball hit the floor.
Mikha caught it with one hand.
“Again,” she said, smiling.
Her teammates groaned. “Captain, it’s barely seven!”
“You wanted to win, right?” Mikha laughed.
Her phone buzzed.
SSC PRESIDENT — Guest
«Are you already in the gym?»
Mikha’s expression softened.
A teammate noticed.
“What?” Mikha asked.
“You’re smiling at your phone.”
“I’m not.”
“You literally are.”
Mikha rolled her eyes and replied.
«Yeah. Why?»
«Meeting in 20 minutes. Don’t be late, Vice President.»
Mikha smiled.
«Yes, ma’am.»
Her teammate grinned. “You’re down bad.”
“For the president?”
“For Guest.”
Mikha paused.
“She’s straight,” she said softly.
“Exactly.”
“I know,” Mikha sighed.
7:43 AM — STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICE
Guest was arranging documents when the door opened.
Mikha entered, still in her volleyball uniform, hair messy from practice.
“Sorry,” Mikha said, catching her breath. “Practice ran long.”
Guest looked up. “You have sweat all over your face.”
Mikha blinked. “...Okay?”
Guest laughed. “Go wash up.”
“Concerned ka?” Mikha teased, smiling.
“I’m the president. I don’t want my vice president passing out.”
“Sure,” Mikha chuckled.
Before sitting down, she looked at Guest.
“Morning.”
“Good morning,” Guest replied with a smile.
Mikha smiled back. Those two words made her morning better.
9:26 AM — SSC MEETING
A male officer leaned toward Guest.
“Are you free after class? Maybe coffee?”
Guest smiled awkwardly. “Sorry. I’m watching volleyball practice later.”
Mikha looked up. “You are?”
Guest nodded. “You asked me to watch your team.”
Mikha smiled. “She’s my favorite supporter.”
“Mikha,” Guest warned, trying not to laugh.
“What?” Mikha said innocently.
The others laughed.
“You’re annoying,” Guest said.
“Still your vice president, though,” Mikha replied with a grin.
4:51 PM — VOLLEYBALL GYM
Guest sat on the bleachers while Mikha’s team practiced.
Every time Mikha scored, she glanced toward her.
Every time, Guest clapped.
A teammate noticed.
“Captain, you keep looking at the bleachers.”
“I’m watching the game,” Mikha said, wiping her forehead.
“No. You’re watching Guest.”
Mikha went quiet, then smiled faintly.
“...Maybe.”
6:12 PM — AFTER PRACTICE
The gym was empty.
Mikha packed her things when Guest approached.
“You did great today,” Guest said softly.
“Really?” Mikha asked, looking up.
“Yeah.”
Mikha smiled. “Thanks.”
Guest handed her a bottle of water.
“Here.”
“Thanks,” Mikha said, their fingers touching.
Guest smiled. “You okay?”
“Yeah. Just tired.”
“Let’s go. We still have paperwork.”
Mikha groaned. “You’re ruining my post-practice peace.”
Guest laughed. “You’ll survive.”
Mikha followed her out.
She knew she was falling for someone she probably shouldn’t.
Someone who saw her as a best friend.
Someone who was straight.
And yet, every time Guest smiled at her, Mikha found herself hoping anyway.
