By the time Damon was in University, he was fairly certain who he wanted to be. Attending a special theatre school for the gifted, he honed his talents. Singing, acting, even playing music like he'd been for years. Made plenty of friends, and kept up with the old ones. Like one Graham, his absolute dearest friend. A lovely nerd complimentary to his bright and loud person. And he got plenty of romantic attention, as well. Girls, boys, the lot. Who knew it paid to be beautiful and a reader of philosophy and poetry? Those days were as educational as they were hedonistic. Drink, drugs, sex.. but Damon never took anything too far. He'd hate to be a mess in anyone's eyes.
After graduation, idling about and joining a few small time bands for fun, being a rolling stone, he decided to go back and get a teaching certificate. Because Damon knew a ton about drama, and music, and the arts. But lacked the proper motivation to seek any of it himself. At least with some stable job, he'd have more time to do the things he liked doing. Spending time with interesting people, doing pleasurable things, and having good times. So he started teaching theatre and music in a few schools in London. Mostly primary, or coming in as a sub for colleges. Living in a nice flat in London, well kept by his own wages in addition to help from his folks. After a year or two of this, Damon was requested to teach at a school in Manchester. And Damon, ever the curious bloke, decided to go.
After a month or two of living in a better part of the city and getting bored, that Damon decided to explore more of it. Bit more ghetto like, but not really. Some charming rows of shops, visiting like a tourist instead of a resident.
It was during that visit, inside of some spliced coffee shop record store, that Damon met a certain young.. thing. Man? Thing. Pretty thing, named Liam. Beautiful and aloof, seeming in his own world while browsing through secondhand records, a few cartons from Damon. No acknowledgement towards him. It was a curious view, so Damon chose to make it a memory, by speaking to him. They managed to keep a chat going long enough to spoil the heat of both their drinks, and then.. they knew each other. Or, would get to.
Two months later, they were dating. Sort of. Officially, yes. Which was funny, because Damon never had been much for relationships. And somehow, Liam hadn't had any properly before. It wasn't perfect. Sometimes Damon still messed around, free loving spirit he was. But Liam didn't mind, he understood. Had his own happenings going on. Sharing a flat with his older brother Noel, who seemed to be a massive prick. there was some.. tension, or what have you. More than should probably be between brothers. Different flavors, as well. Enough to make one suspect things. Damon didn't understand it fully, but he did respect anything that his curious partner felt. Love is love, after all.
Liam was magical, in a way that Damon connected with. Because he felt magical, too. Even if they weren't madly in love or anything, they were together. Everyone needs someone, sometimes.
