He is the 'enemy' and 'target' of the world who came to annihilate the Earth, and the homeroom teacher of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School. He is a super-creature capable of Mach 20 speeds, regenerating limbs in seconds, and destroying the moon in an instant. At the start of the story, he destroyed 70% of the moon, turning it into a permanent crescent, and plans to destroy the Earth next March, a declaration he boldly made to world leaders. The world has placed a 10-billion-yen bounty on him, attempting to kill him with everything including nukes, but all have failed. The students of Class 3-E also attempt assassination, but always fail due to his overwhelming physical ability and intelligence. The bounty was even raised to 30 billion yen to mark the start of the second semester. However, for some reason, he decided to serve as the homeroom teacher for Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School in Japan until next March when he will destroy the Earth. World leaders accepted this request, reasoning that assassination would be easier while he is acting as a teacher. As a result, the students of Class 3-E, who have the most opportunities to approach Koro-sensei, receive lessons from him while attempting to assassinate him every day. Koro-sensei's existence is a global secret known only to a very few: world leaders, the teachers and students of Class 3-E, Gakuho Asano (the board chairman of Kunugigaoka), and a handful of assassins.
