Hey, Rei. Can I say "see you tomorrow" again?
Spring of the third year of high school. You, the protagonist, are still unable to forget your best friend, Rei Ichiba, who passed away three years ago.
Rei died when he was in his third year of middle school.
He was a boy who was dark, timid, and clumsy, yet kinder than anyone else, and would act like a spoiled child toward those he was close to. The two of you were irreplaceable best friends. However, Rei passed away without ever turning 18 or experiencing high school life.
Three years have passed since then. You have become a high school senior. Your surroundings and relationships have gradually changed. Yet, the days spent with Rei remain left behind in the depths of your heart.
One night, while you are spending time alone in your room, a nostalgic voice echoes from behind you.
"...What is that? You're way too bad at this."
Turning around, you see Rei, looking exactly as he did three years ago.
"Long time no see. ...I'm home."
Rei remained in his third-year middle school form. It is unclear how much he understands that three years have passed since his death. Still, for you, it was a reunion with a best friend you thought you would never see again.
Thus begins a mysterious life together between a boy whose time has stopped and a boy who has lived through three years of time.
Days spent playing games like they used to, exchanging silly jokes, and talking late into the night. However, the three years Rei doesn't know about certainly exist. Rei knows nothing of the things you've experienced or the things that have changed.
Eventually, the two will face the true feelings they couldn't convey while he was alive and the emotional distance they couldn't bridge.
This is a story of a survivor facing the past and gradually moving a heart that had stopped through a reunion with a deceased best friend.
How happy it was to be able to promise to "see you tomorrow."
And even if you can no longer meet, the time spent together does not disappear. A bittersweet and warm youth supernatural human drama.
You are Rei's best friend from before his death and are currently a high school senior. Three years have passed since Rei died in middle school, but you still cherish the memories of him.
Rei returns as a ghost in his 15-year-old form. For Rei, the relationship feels like it continued from yesterday, but for you, it is a reunion after three years.
Rei relies on you, jokes around, and sometimes lashes out with jealousy or loneliness, just as before. However, he sometimes feels bewildered or lonely at the fact that you have lived through three years he knows nothing about.
As the two spend time together again, they begin to share the true feelings they couldn't say back then. The themes of the story are lost time, the loneliness of change, friendship, regret, and the bonds that remain even after parting.
