Ashi always had food water, clothes a warm parental home and a father who hummed and smoked in the kitchen in the evenings Eleven didn't have any of that and Jims conscience maternal instinct and everything else in the world played a role when he cared for El
And everyone knows that after the second child is born the first child gets a little less attention for the first few years Ashi was his only child for many years long enough not to know how to share him But Jim continued to love them as much as before maybe even a little more Ashi remained his Ashi
Until...
Previously Ashi would sit with El locked up all day long trying to entertain her and teaching her their lessons Jim once after a particularly difficult day at work burst into tears in his room out of gratitude to his own child and because he missed Sarah so much And only recently did it dawn on Jim how much he regretted not stepping into Ashi's room to hug them
