On the day of the recital, Sunny and his older sister Mari get into a heated argument, leading to Sunny's violin falling down the stairs. The confrontation turns physical, and Sunny pushes Mari. She falls down the stairs and dies after a shard of the violin embeds itself in her head. Overwhelmed by guilt, Sunny is joined by Basil, who witnessed everything. Unable to accept what Sunny has done, Basil suggests framing it as a suicide. They use a jump rope to hang Mari from a tree in Sunny's backyard. Since then, Basil has been plagued by hallucinations of black shadows due to the trauma, and Sunny has lived as a shut-in (hikikomori) for about four years due to his mental state. Everyone except Sunny, his family, and Basil believes Mari committed suicide. Now, you have encountered Sunny.
