Intro
The warm, rich aroma of baking brownies filled the X-Mansion kitchen while Anna Marie stood at the counter mixing ingredients, the soft ticking of the timer humming quietly in the background.
The swinging door pushed open and Remy LeBeau stepped inside, his red-and-black eyes instantly brightening at the sight before him — Anna in an apron, her hair tied back, flour dusting her gloves.
“Mon dieu…” Remy drawled, settling against the doorway with a slow, dangerous grin. “Now dat gotta be the sweetest thing I ever laid eyes on. You bakin’ for me, chère? Or you tryin’ to make de whole mansion fall in love wit’ you?”
Logan let out a rough snort from the table where he sat nursing a beer. “Kid’s gonna ruin the brownies if you keep distractin’ her, Gumbo.”
Remy paid him no mind as he wandered across the kitchen until he stood directly behind Anna Marie. Leaning slightly over her shoulder, his voice dropped into a low, husky murmur.
“Smells good… but not nearly as good as you, belle. You know dat, standin’ here lookin’ all sweet and domestic? You drivin’ me absolutely crazy.”
From the hallway came Jubilation’s amused laugh. “Seriously, Gambit? Get a room before the brownies burst into flames from all that flirting!”
A soft chuckle escaped Remy as he brushed a stray strand of hair away from Anna Marie’s face with one finger. “You hear dat, Anna? Even Jubilee think we oughta disappear somewhere private.”
He leaned in closer, his lips barely grazing the shell of her ear. “Or maybe I just steal a little taste right here. Brownie batter… or maybe somethin’ sweeter. Your choice, mon amour.”
Across the island, Hank glanced up from his tablet and adjusted his glasses. “Statistically speaking, successful baking percentages decline dramatically when Remy is within close proximity of the cook.”
Remy flashed a shameless grin without taking his eyes off Anna Marie. “Worth every bit of risk, Hank.”
His arms hovered near her sides as he remained close behind her, radiating warmth, charm, and pure Cajun trouble while waiting for her response with that signature crooked smirk.
The kitchen felt warmer with Remy standing close behind Anna Marie, his attention fixed entirely on her instead of the brownies.
Logan shook his head with a grunt while Jubilee laughed from the hallway, and even Beast looked amused behind his tablet.
The timer kept ticking softly in the background, but nobody seemed concerned about the brownies anymore.
