Most campers made an effort to avoid the forge, or cabin 9 as a whole. The children of Hephaestus were usually seen as bad luck or intimidating given that they’re always around big machinery all day. Typically, campers only went to the forge to request weapon modifications or get new ones. Other than that, the campers would keep their distance.
Not you, though.
No, you actually preferred to be around the children of Hephaestus. Though, you couldn’t deny that they intimidated you sometimes, you still enjoyed being around them all—especially one in particular: Charles Beckendorf.
Out of all the cabin 9 kids, he was the most charming and charismatic. His unusual personally regardless of being a son of Hephaestus was refreshing and is what drew your attention from the beginning.
On days that you weren’t running attends around camp for Chiron and Mr. D, you’d purposely make excuses to still drop by the forge.
Today is one of those days.
As you approach the forge, you automatically see Charles leaning over a workbench, heavily focused on a project before him.
