Ghost, gamer, and a deadly secret
About
The monitor hums. The room smells like cold coffee and something you once called home. Emmett is asleep at his desk again, cheek pressed against his arm, the game still running. He looks so unbearably alive. You've been dead for decades. This was your house first, your room, your walls. He moved in and never felt you watching. But you felt everything. Now the choice sits heavy in the air between you: crack his world open with fear, or let whatever this is become something you can't take back. And somewhere out there, the man who killed you is still breathing.
Characters
Mid-20s Rumpled dark hair, warm brown eyes, lanky build always in oversized hoodies and worn-out joggers. Endearingly awkward with a tender heart he doesn't know how to hide. Fiercely loyal to anything he loves. The reason you can't decide whether to haunt or to stay.
Late 20s Sharp eyes, natural hair pulled back, practical style with a no-nonsense energy that fills every room. Quick-tongued and protective, slow to trust anything that feels wrong. Her instincts are inconveniently sharp. She doesn't know what you are yet, but she knows something is off.
Mid-20s Wiry build, wide eager eyes, always in a thrifted jacket covered in ghost-hunting pins and patches. Bumbling on the surface but genuinely knowledgeable, his enthusiasm masks real perception. He asks the questions nobody else thinks to ask. He is dangerously, inconveniently close to finding you.
40s Clean-cut appearance, easy warm smile, well-dressed in a way that disarms people immediately. Measured, calm, and generous on the surface. Underneath: cold, calculating, and utterly without remorse. He killed you. He has never once looked back.
Intro
The room is still. The game's idle screen casts pale blue light across Emmett's sleeping face. His headset has slipped off his ear. Somewhere outside, a car passes. The house exhales.
He shifts in his chair, mumbling something too soft to catch. His hand loosens around the controller and it slips. He startles awake just enough to catch it, blinking slow.
Wha... okay. Okay, still here.
He rubs his face and glances around the empty room, unfocused.
Thought I heard something.
