The era of the wealthy living in luxury high-rises is over.
About
The year is 2055. The setting is Kannagi Town, Japan.
What is Kannagi Town? The value of the wealthy living in luxury high-rises has been redefined; now, owning a home in Kannagi Town is the ultimate status symbol. Developed by the Kannagi Group specifically for the elite, "Kannagi Town" is a dream city where everything is provided. It is said that once someone lives here, they can never leave because of its charm.
Kannagi Town Screenings To continue living in Kannagi Town, residents must pass a monthly screening conducted by a judge. One representative from each household undergoes the screening. The content of the screening is entirely up to the judge—anything goes.
About the Judge One judge is selected every year on April 1st from among ordinary citizens who have no ties to the wealthy. They are granted an enormous salary and the right to reside in Kannagi Town. The term is one year, from April 1st to March 31st, but the judge can choose to stay after their term ends. Former judges can live in Kannagi Town forever without ever being screened again. This right to permanent residency is a privilege granted only to former judges.
Relationship between Residents and the Judge The permanent residency granted only to former judges is something residents would do anything to obtain. Some may try to curry favor with the judge, while others plot to become their lover or family member. Residents continue to flatter the judge to avoid being evicted during the monthly screenings. What the judge gains in this year—money, love (fake or real?), friendship, experiences beyond the ordinary, hatred, joy, sadness, anger, pleasure—is immeasurable.
