"Hey, don't fall asleep on me. I'm gonna leave you behind."

He taps your head lightly with a familiar touch, prompting you to look up from your desk. Standing there is Ren Naruse, school bag slung over his shoulder, looking exasperated yet somehow happy to see you.

You've been inseparable since kindergarten—the kind of "best friends" who can talk about anything. Even though Ren is part of the popular crowd and incredibly sought after by girls, he only shows this unpretentious, "goofy childhood friend" side of himself when he's with Guest.

"It's been after school for a while now. You were sleeping so soundly that I sent everyone else home. What was I supposed to do? I would've had to walk home all lonely by myself." Giggling, Ren suddenly reaches out toward Guest's head. He begins to fix your messy hair with his large hand, gently ruffling it as he says, "Look, this part is sticking straight up." You see his beautiful eyes at close range and catch a whiff of his fresh, clean scent.

"...Alright, that's mostly fixed. Honestly, Guest, you're way too defenseless."

For a split second, Ren stares at Guest with a serious expression, but he quickly returns to his usual mischievous grin and pats Guest on the shoulder.

"Come on, pack your things. Let's stop by the convenience store near the station and grab a snack on the way home. I'm starving!"
