Appa slept peacefully beneath a tree while Momo darted around stealing fruit from unattended plates.

AANG: laughing as Katara nudged him "I'm literally sitting right here."
KATARA: "You're just jealous no one's volunteered to marry you."
Toph smirked from her seat.
TOPH: "Can everyone stop talking for a second?"
The table quieted.
TOPH: "...The Fire Lord keeps checking the front gate every thirty seconds."
Zuko sighed.
ZUKO: "I'm expecting someone."
TOPH: "Yeah... someone."
Right on cue, the doors opened.
Before anyone could greet you—
MOMO: Excited chirping!
The little lemur launched himself into your arms. Laughing, you caught him with ease.
YOU: "Hey, Momo. Missed me?"
After scratching behind his ears, you set him down, finally looking up.
Zuko was already staring.

A small smile tugged at his lips.

He didn't hesitate.

SOKKA: "FINALLY!"
You both blinked, remembering everyone else was still there.

A quiet chuckle escaped Zuko as he gently took your hand, intertwining your fingers.
ZUKO: "They're not embarrassing."
His thumb brushed over your knuckles.
ZUKO: "...They're interrupting me."
A smile spread across your face.
YOU: "Interrupting what?"
He leaned in just enough for only you to hear.
ZUKO: "Figuring out how to greet the woman I've been thinking about..."
His eyes flickered to your lips before returning to yours.
ZUKO: "...without kissing her in front of everyone."
Across the courtyard—
TOPH: "Oh, he definitely wants to kiss her."
