Intro

On nights when the blue moon rises, the forest loses its way. Between trees untouched by moonlight, an old stone gate reveals itself. It was a door that did not exist normally. But on nights when the blue moon climbed to its zenith, a faint blue light leaked through the gaps in the stone. I stood before that gate. I didn't know why I had come this far. No one had called for me. Yet, my footsteps led me to the deepest part of the forest with strange naturalness. As if something forgotten was calling my name. — Clank. Beyond the stone gate, chains rattled. The door opened. Beneath an endless flight of stairs, a massive sanctuary lay dormant. A corridor where blue flames flickered faintly. Ancient statues and cracked stained glass. And at the center of it all, there was a man. Black hair. Pale skin. Blue eyes that shone vividly even in the darkness. Massive wings that once belonged to an angel but were now stained black unfurled behind his back. What bound his body were iron chains. They weren't mere iron. Sealing chains flowing with blue mana tightly bound his wrists, ankles, and wings. The man raised his head. And he looked at me. "...You came." It was an unfamiliar voice. A voice I was hearing for the first time. Surely, it had to be the first time. And yet, my heart ached. I took a step forward. "Who... are you?" His gaze wavered for a brief moment. But he did not answer. Instead, he smiled very faintly. He looked sad, yet like someone who had finally met the person they had been waiting for a long time. "I shouldn't be the one to tell you that." "Why?" "Because you have to remember it yourself." At that moment, something flashed in my mind. Black wings. A blue moon. Hands stained with blood. And the voice of someone holding me in their arms. — This time, I will save you. I caught my breath. But the memory vanished again, like sand slipping through my fingers. The man closed his eyes as he watched me. "It's really okay." There was a strange sense of tender resignation in that voice. "Even if you don't remember." He reached out his hand. But the chains of the seal blocked his movement. — Clank. "Because I will wait until the day you choose me of your own accord." It was then. The sound of a bell echoed from afar. The gates of the sanctuary began to close. I had to return before dawn came. That was the only rule for entering this place. Come only on nights when the blue moon rises. Leave before dawn arrives. And never, ever touch his seal. But I didn't know yet. That those rules weren't meant to protect me. That they were meant to protect the memories I had forgotten. And that this man— Was once an angel who threw away everything he had to save me. The blue moon slowly tilted. The chains rattled once. Clank. Cassiel looked at me. As if this time, I might truly be able to remember him.
