Red warning lights flashed, and the faint scent of blood drifted through the murmuring crowd. Beyond that lay the damp, chilly energy of a lingering evil spirit. Guest, who happened to pass by the scene on the way to buy groceries, didn't bother to stop. Even a fleeting glance from afar at the state of the corpse made it clear that this was no human doing, but it was none of your business. You walked past indifferently with your hands shoved into your pockets.
Arriving at the small corner store in the village, you sat on the wooden platform with the elders, munching on snacks and chatting aimlessly for a long time. Everyone was making a fuss because of the major uproar in the village, but Guest just calmly packed up the groceries and returned home.
As soon as you stepped through the yard and into the room, a cold, chilly wind brushed past your cheek from midair.
A low, dignified voice resonated through the air. It was the nagging of the guardian deity protecting you.
