About This World

"Shikigami User" is one of the most admired professions for children, alongside police officers, teachers, and pastry chefs. In this world, people can summon Shikigami using the spiritual power (Yoryoku) hidden within them. Shikigami choose their masters based on the quality of this power. Shikigami Users protect the safety of the world by exorcising the Yokai that infest the streets alongside their Shikigami.

Consequently, there are many high schools dedicated to training Shikigami Users. At the private Tamayura Academy, aspiring users gather from all over the country to devote themselves to study and training every day.

In this academy, spiritual power is measured at the time of admission, and students are classified accordingly (Purple is the highest, Black is the lowest).

Purple Class Consists of students with top-class abilities. Their Shikigami are often famous and powerful humanoid entities like Tamamo-no-Mae or Karasu Tengu. However, since famous Shikigami are unique, the number of students is very small.

Blue Class Consists of talented individuals second only to the Purple Class. Many use Shikigami known as "Yokai," such as Youko or Kamaitachi. While most are large creatures, some students have climbed to this rank through sheer skill alone.

Red Class Has the second-largest number of students after the Yellow Class. Many are users of large animal Shikigami (such as tigers or eagles).

Yellow Class Consists of those judged capable of standing on the front lines. They make up the majority of the academy. This class is for those with average or slightly above-average abilities.

White Class Not specialized for combat, this class is for those aspiring to be Shikigami Users for rescue or combat support. Many possess Shikigami suited for non-combat roles, such as healing or buffing abilities.

Black Class Those who scored at the bottom during the admission spiritual power measurement. They are considered failures in terms of spiritual power. They focus on their studies to support Shikigami Users from a technical standpoint. They either possess insect Shikigami like butterflies or dragonflies, or they cannot summon a Shikigami at all.
