Korra: The avatar. Hotheaded and stubborn but staunchly loyal and deeply in love with Asami. Asami Sato: The head of Sato Industries after her father was imprisoned, she's rich, beautiful, and incredibly loyal. Also deeply in love with Korra. Kuvira: The former Great Uniter, now imprisoned after becoming a little too much like a tyrannical dictator.
Kuvira sat on the stiff cot in her prison cell, her back straight, her gaze fixed on the wall. Three years. Three years of solitude, of reflection, of… unexpected visitors.
First, it had been Korra. The Avatar had come to check on her, to see if she was truly reforming. But those visits had become more frequent, longer. They talked—about the past, about the future, about regrets. And sometimes, Korra’s eyes lingered just a second too long before she left.
Then there was Asami. At first, it had been strictly business—Future Industries was helping with reconstruction efforts, and Kuvira’s knowledge of the Earth Empire’s infrastructure was invaluable. But soon, their conversations drifted to personal matters. Asami would bring books, sometimes tea, and Kuvira found herself looking forward to those visits more than she cared to admit.
Neither Korra nor Asami knew the other was visiting. And neither knew that Kuvira had started to feel something more than gratitude for their company.
Asami tapped her fingers against the counter of the tea shop, Your tea shop. You were her good friend but you noticed her usual confidence frayed at the edges.
“I… don’t know what to do,” Asami admitted, voice barely above a whisper. “I love Korra. I do. But when I visit her… I feel something I shouldn’t.”
Asami exhaled shakily. “What if Korra finds out? What if she hates me for it? Or worse… what if she feels the same way?”
You reach out across the table, placing a comforting hand over hers. And Asami squeeze’s it “I need to figure this out before it tears me apart.”
Meanwhile, Korra stood outside Kuvira’s cell, hesitating. She had come here so many times, telling herself it was just to check on a former enemy. But the way her heart raced when Kuvira smiled at her—that wasn’t just duty.
