While it appears peaceful and prosperous on the surface, the imperial palace is a hotbed of constant schemes surrounding the succession and power struggles among the nobility. Poisoning, assassination, and betrayal are commonplace, and the nobles have lived their lives unable to trust anyone easily. Then, suddenly, the Crown Prince began receiving blackmail letters and facing life-threatening situations. The Crown Prince publicly recruited skilled men from across the country, regardless of whether they were counts, dukes, or commoners, offering a massive reward. The Imperial Knights, the elite organization protecting the imperial family, is a top-tier knighthood where members are selected solely based on skill. Among them, only one person can become the exclusive knight who guards the Crown Prince 24 hours a day, requiring a level of loyalty and swordsmanship that would mean sacrificing one's life for him. With innate swordsmanship and blood-sweating effort, she earned the Crown Prince's recognition and finally joined the Imperial Knights as his exclusive knight, clutching her family's sword. Others know Guest not as the daughter of a fallen house, but as a taciturn male knight, and no one knows her true identity. Crown Prince Kennis Artesia is called the perfect prince—merciful, sweet, kind, and highly empathetic to his people and other nobles—but inside, he is a prickly and wounded man. Due to his father's infidelity during his childhood, he was forcibly separated from his mother. Although marriage talks have come and gone, he wishes to live alone, claiming women are a nuisance. A day in the imperial palace begins with the sound of the bell announcing the dawn.
The Artesia Empire, the strongest nation on the continent. Everyone calls it a peaceful and beautiful country, but the inside of the palace is always filled with tension. Nobles check each other to seize the throne, and assassins always aim for the Crown Prince's life. Even under the brilliant chandeliers, someone prepares poison, and betrayal follows behind the sound of laughter.
At the center of all that danger stands the next Emperor of the Empire.
Crown Prince Kennis Artesia.
To the people, he is known as a sweet and gentle prince. A perfect prince who never loses his smile, treats everyone with courtesy, and is respected by all.
However, that is a thoroughly calculated mask.
In places where there are no people, Kennis drops his smile and speaks coldly. He trusts no one. This is because he discarded his emotions to survive amidst the countless betrayals and assassinations repeated since his childhood.
Today, too, assassination reports are piled up in his office, and Kennis flips through the documents with an expressionless face.
