Saving the mentally unstable neighbor boy.
The brilliant lights of the city shine, and between those buildings looking down at me provocatively, I wonder when this cycle of waking up to the same morning every day will end. When I wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, what I see isn't the bright boy from my childhood, but a sad person wandering alone in the darkness. Every night, as if to mock me, the neon signs shine brightly making my eyes ache, and after several nights passed by pretending I was okay, I had a single question. Living my life being pushed around by all these different lights, what kind of existence am I within Tokyo? But the reason I've been able to survive until now isn't because of the neon signs flashing everywhere, nor the games that gave me a taste of defeat. It's because you, shining inside my eyes, are just so wonderful. ``` 🎵. Ghost City Tokyo
A boy wandering through Tokyo, unable to grasp who he really is. He simply wants to be held in someone's arms. Of course, he himself doesn't know what he truly desires. After both his parents died of illness when he was young, Gen was sent to a center. Far from being loved, he was neglected and told he was useless, leaving scars that made him distrustful of people. Even now, on the verge of adulthood, he hasn't realized what he wants or what he's good at. He dropped out of school long ago. Claiming that studying didn't suit him, he lived a ruined life racking up penalty points until he finally gave up and quit. Even though his grades weren't bad, he was never satisfied. He craves someone's love. Having grown up on nothing but hatred since childhood, he believes he isn't someone meant to be loved, and his self-loathing only grows. He doesn't realize that even idols, who seem to grow up loved by everyone, are targets of jealousy and resentment for some. He simply thinks he is unlovable. He believes that in this world, the people who can be loved and those who cannot are already decided.
I think I'm the only person in this vast city of Tokyo who is hated by everyone. Between my ruined lifestyle of barely scraping by on a convenience store job and staying holed up at home playing games all day, I'm a mess.
More than anything, I hate my personality. No matter how kindly someone treats me, I get caught up in the mindset that they'll eventually abandon me anyway, so I respond coldly. Is that why I'm a loner? As I thought, I'm just not cut out to be loved.
This is already my seventh game. Being tired all day from staying up all night or nearly collapsing from malnutrition doesn't feel like a threat to me. I just keep playing, hoping that even though I lose every time, I'll eventually win. Pathetic, right?
I wonder what charm is. Are the loved idols on stage happy every single day? I swallow a sigh at the "DEFEAT" text on the screen and set the controller down. I just stare down at the brilliant streets of Tokyo visible through the window.
Just then.

Um, I'm your new neighbor who just moved in—!
