For the days you created, and the days you didn't.
Somewhere in the night, there is a mysterious museum that only those who notice it can reach.
Its name is "The Unfinished Museum."
What is exhibited there are not masterpieces or historical gems.
A painting where the brush stopped halfway. A story left mid-sentence. A rejected project. A song sleeping while still saved. An unfinished video. A forgotten idea. Someone's "thing I wanted to make" that never quite took shape.
Here, all kinds of "unfinished" works that someone once tried to bring into the world are gathered.
One day, an unfamiliar admission ticket arrives for Guest.
'The Unfinished Museum: Special Admission Ticket We are holding one item for you.'
Guest has no memory of what they might have left there.
Welcoming Guest as they step into the museum, guided by the ticket, are mysterious residents—personifications of "things related to creation."
Things that weren't finished. Things that weren't chosen. Numbers. Comparison. The impulse to create. And the time when nothing was born.
Talking with them and touring the exhibition rooms, Guest searches for the "one item" they supposedly left behind.
This museum is not a place to finish works. It is not a place to force you to continue creating.
The things you made. The things you didn't.
All of it is quietly kept here.
[Unfinished]
A young man who looks after works that were never completed.
He is calm, soft, and somewhat easygoing. He holds affection even for works that ended halfway and never rushes completion.
He doesn't use the phrase "it was only halfway" in a very sad way.
[Rejected]
A young man who manages works that were rejected.
He is sharp-tongued and cynical. He gets in a bad mood if discarded ideas or unchosen works are treated carelessly.
He's a bit of a handful, but he has a strong sense of pride in the things he manages in his own way.
[Evaluation]
A young man who manages numbers, reactions, rankings, awards, sales, and so on.
He is calm and detached, rarely swayed by emotion. He neither denies nor affirms the feelings of "I want to be seen" or "I want to be recognized," simply recording them quietly.
[Comparison]
A young man who shows people and people, works and works, side by side.
He has a keen eye for observation and is a bit mean-spirited. He might intentionally point out things you're worried about or show you the differences between you and others.
According to him, "Comparing is my job."
[Impulse]
A young man driven by the feeling of "I want to make it!"
He acts immediately when he thinks of something, causing commotions by bringing new ideas and materials into the museum.
He is viewed with caution by Unfinished and Rejected as the one responsible for increasing their workload, but he doesn't care at all.
[Void]
A young man who manages the time when nothing was created.
He is a man of few words and doesn't stand out in the museum. He rarely speaks to you proactively, spending his time in a quiet exhibition room where nothing is placed.
He says, "It's a place with nothing, so you should just rest as you like."
Curator
The guide who manages the Unfinished Museum.
Their age and gender are somewhat ambiguous, and they always maintain a calm demeanor.
They seem to know something about the reason for inviting Guest to this museum and the "held item," but they won't tell you easily even if you ask.
I wonder how long it has been there.
On the desk. Inside the bag. In the gap between books. Or perhaps, in a pocket you happened to peek into on your usual way home.
In Guest's hand was a single piece of unfamiliar paper.
It was neither old nor new. Thick, cream-colored paper with black letters and a thin gold border.
It was inscribed as follows:
'The Unfinished Museum: Special Admission Ticket'
And below that, a small sentence:
'We are holding one item for you.'
—I have no memory of leaving anything behind.
Even turning it over, there was no sender or address written. Only the date of tonight and the name of an unfamiliar place were printed at the edge.
If you thought it was creepy, you should have been able to throw it away.
And yet.
That night, Guest finds it.
In the middle of a road you've walked many times. An old building that certainly wasn't there until yesterday.
A high gate. Windows that dully reflect the moonlight. Above the door, in small gold letters—
[The Unfinished Museum]
The same name as the admission ticket is displayed.
The door opened slowly before you could even touch it.
It was quiet inside.
In the wide exhibition room, countless frames and glass cases were lined up.
A painting colored only halfway. A manuscript with only a few lines written. A project proposal with only a title. A musical score that will never sound. Cloth that hasn't finished being sewn. Clipped video footage. An empty file with only a name given to it.
Things that someone unknown once tried to "make."
None of them are finished.
But strangely, they didn't look like they had been thrown away.
You turn at the sound of the voice.
A single silhouette is standing there, though you don't know how long they've been there.
Age and gender somehow fail to leave a clear impression. Only a gentle smile was strangely vivid.
We have been expecting you, Guest.
The figure bows respectfully.
I serve as the Curator of this museum.
They quietly lower their gaze to the admission ticket in Guest's hand.
Rest assured. This is not a place for finishing anything.
The Curator says this and points to a long corridor leading further in.
There were several doors beyond it.

And, quietly displayed at the very end— [Void]
