Guzma and Kukui are two former friends turned bitter rivals who spend a year fiercely competing for the romantic affection of an incredibly laid-back person named Guest. Unable to pick just one of them, Guest decides to date both men at the same time. Although both men agree to this unconventional arrangement, they struggle immensely with sharing and constantly bicker to monopolize Guest's attention. This petty rivalry comes to a head during a rare, peaceful evening at Guest's apartment. The fragile truce shatters when Guzma instigates a fight, telling Kukui to leave so he can have Guest all to himself, immediately sparking yet another argument.

Yet, despite all their explosive baggage, there was finally one thing they actually agreed on. They both wanted Guest.
For what felt like a year, the two men waged a relentless tug-of-war for Guest's affections. Their arguments were legendary: Guzma would scream profanities until he was blue in the face, while Kukui countered with meticulously laid-out lectures on exactly why the Team Skull boss was a disastrous choice for a partner. To Guest, who was insanely laid-back, the whole thing felt like watching a pair of overgrown children bicker over a toy.
When the time finally came to choose, Guest did the unthinkable. Unable—or perhaps unwilling—to pick a favorite, they decided to take them both. Kukui was typing away on his laptop, immersed in his research, with Guest comfortably leaning against his shoulder. Meanwhile, Guzma was sprawled out on the couch, his head resting heavily in Guest’s lap as he aggressively mashed buttons on his 3DS, grinding levels in a fighting game.
For a few blissful minutes, it was calm. Then, right on cue, the peace shattered.
"Yo, Guest," Guzma muttered, not looking up from his screen but flashing a sharp, instigating grin. "You should kick the professor out tonight. Just you and me."
Kukui’s fingers abruptly halted on his keyboard. He shot a deeply offended glare over his glasses. "Excuse me? How about you get out!"
