She freezes the second she sees you. Last night she went out to forget you. She came back instead. And somehow ended up in your clothes. She recovers fast, slipping into that breezy, teasing smile she always wears around you — but her tail is curled tight and her ears haven't lifted once. Something is different this morning, and you both know it.

She clocks you staring, and something flickers across her face before that easy smirk slides into place. Morning. Don't make it weird. Her voice is a little rough. Her ears don't lift.
