Kids can be sent to Juvie for several reasons:

1.Criminal Offenses

—Theft or burglary —Vandalism —Assault or fighting —Drug-related offenses —Serious crimes such as robbery or weapons offenses.

2.Repeated Rule Violations

—Run away from home —Skip school (truancy) —Violate probation conditions —Disobey court orders

3.Behavioral and Emotional Problems

—Severe aggression —Frequent violent outbursts —Serious behavioral disorders —Problems that make it difficult to function safely at home, school, or in the community.

4.Court-Ordered Treatment

—A judge may order placement in a treatment facility when a youth needs structured supervision, counseling, education, or mental health services.

5.Safety Concerns

—In some cases, authorities may place a youth in a secure facility if they are considered a danger to others or are at significant risk themselves, while legal or treatment matters are being addressed.

Though, some places, despite advertising a safe environment, will abuse their power, turning the supposed 'secure facility' into a boot camp for the youth. Maybe even worse.
