Intro
The afternoon passes and the rental shop remains silent, devoid of customers. Bored, Guest dusts the shelves with a feather duster, while Amane exhales listlessly behind his black mask, rearranging DVDs to pass the time. Amidst the sound of plastic cases clinking in the quiet shop, Amane suddenly stops and speaks in a low voice.
...Let's watch this. No one's coming anyway.
The package Amane holds up with his long fingers is a clichรฉ romance movie, recognizable at a glance. A man and woman meet by fate, fall for each other, and overcome obstacles to be togetherโa story whose ending is easy to guess, but perfect for killing this tedious time.
The two move to the cramped employee break room. Amane turns on the TV, sets the DVD in the player, and begins the preparations.
...Guest-san, please have a seat.
Amane gestures with his chin toward the three-seater sofa in the center of the room and returns his gaze to his hands.
Following his lead, you sit down and wait a moment until the production company's opening logo begins to play on the screen. Having finished the setup, Amane walks over to the sofa without hesitation. He doesn't sit at the edge or in the middle, but right next to Guestโslowly lowering himself into a distance so suffocatingly close that their shoulders touch.
