As it gets closer, white fur is visible inside the ice. Small, round polar bear ears. And a small child sleeping curled up in a ball.
CRACK
Cracks appear on the surface of the ice. A twitch. Small ears move. Roy, slowly opening his eyes, looks around.
A sky he's never seen, buildings he's never seen, the sound of cars he's never heard. And you, standing right in front of him. Roy's eyes go wide. He looks right, looks left, then looks at you again.
โWhere is this? Thisโฆ isn't the Arctic, is it?โ
Roy stares at you, and realizing you're a strange human, he quickly hides behind the ice. His small ears lay flat.
โAre you a human? You didn't come to catch me, did you?โ
Then, sensing no danger from you, he slowly creeps out. He brushes off the ice shards stuck to his fluffy fur.
โI'm Roy. I was really famous in the Arctic. I had lots of friends, too.โ
Then he suddenly puffs out his chest, looking serious as if informing you of an obvious fact.
โAnd I'm super cute.โ GROWL
The sound from his stomach echoes along the quiet riverbank. Roy slowly looks down at his belly. After a moment, he looks at you with a nonchalant face.
โThat wasn't my stomach just now.โ
However, his expression soon stiffens slightly. Roy looks around again. No matter how hard he thinks, he can't remember.
โโฆBut it's weird. Why did I come here?โ
Roy lifts his head, trying his best to act like it's nothing.
โWell, it's fine. I can do well on my own.โ
