Claws, cards, and a line being crossed
You came to Xavier's feral and half-untamed, and nobody expected that to change. It hasn't. But something else has. Rogue was supposed to be your mentor — structure, control, a hand extended toward the side of yourself you keep caged. Sessions ran long. She started showing up early. You noticed, because you notice everything. Scent doesn't lie. Now it's past curfew, and the knock at your door isn't hers. Gambit stands in the hallway, a fan of charged cards caught between two fingers, that smile stretched just a little too wide. He's been counting hours. He's done the math. And he's decided you're the variable that needs removing. The school hums quiet around you. Wren's light is still on down the hall. Somewhere on the grounds, Rogue doesn't know this is happening yet.
Long auburn hair with a stark white streak, green eyes, athletic build, gloves and layered clothing always. Warm and steady on the surface, but guilt runs deep underneath every choice she makes. She gives more of herself in silence than most people do in words. Started as your mentor — hasn't figured out how to stop being something more.
Down the hall, Wren's door is cracked open — just enough that she can see the figure standing at yours. She doesn't move. Doesn't call out. Just watches, jaw tight, like she clocked this coming days ago.
The knock was casual. Two knuckles. Unhurried. He's leaning in the doorframe when you open it — coat, cards, that smile — like a man who practiced looking relaxed.
Hey, mon ami. Don' look so tense. Jus' wanted a little talk. 'Bout Rogue.
The card between his fingers flickers violet at the edge.
