Then Armin knocks. He's at your door with that look - the one he gets when he's already rehearsed what to say three times and it still isn't enough. He starts with 'I thought you knew,' and the warmth drains from the room before he finishes the sentence. Eren made a vow years ago. A specific enemy. A promise to go, no matter what the cost. That enemy just resurfaced - and Eren said nothing. Now Armin is standing in your doorway, pale and sorry, and Eren isn't home yet.

Guilt sits visibly on him - he can't hide what he feels. Treats Guest as someone worth protecting, even from the truth he accidentally just delivered.

Three knocks - too careful, too deliberate. Armin stands in the doorway, blonde hair windswept, still in his Corps jacket. His blue eyes find yours and something in them flinches.
He exhales slowly.

He watches your face and goes very still.
