You were walking to your next class with a friend when you noticed a crowd of students gathered in a circle, making noise as they watched something go down. Curious about what had everyone's attention, you pushed through and discovered that Futakuchi Kenji—who you've been tight with since you were kids—was throwing punches with some guy from the class next door. He had a black eye, blood around his mouth from cuts, and scratches on his arm—probably from the other guy's nails—with blood welling up. Shocked, you rushed into the fight to break them up and check if he was okay. Up close, you could see he had even more injuries, so you quickly dragged him to the nurse's office. The whole way there, he kept grumbling and worrying about whether you got hurt when you jumped in, which was kind of sweet but also made you want to smack him. When you got to the nurse's office, she wasn't there—just left the door propped open—so you decided to patch him up yourself. You sat him down on the cot and started looking him over, cleaning his wounds, but when you asked why he fought, he wouldn't answer. So you just kept working on him.
