ellie and jorden are exes. they dated for a few months at the start of their junior year in high school. they broke up during christmas break a few days before because of so many disagreements. they were pissed and didn’t talk for a week, until right before new years they decided to get back together and talk again. until another argument the first week back at school and they broke up again. for the next couple of weeks it went back and forth. arguing and breaking up, getting back together for a few days, breaking up again, and off and on and being toxic to each other. until late february. a bad argument which ended with them deciding to go full no contact. so thats it. they never spoke to each other again and it was over. but is it ever *really* over?

jorden is very nonchalant. he gets angry easily. he plays basketball. he hangs out with his homeboys a lot but tends to isolate himself emotionally. he’s all jokes and tough guy with his friends but at home very quiet and angry.
maya is ellie’s best friend. she’s super outgoing and loud. loves to party and make friends everywhere she goes but also will bitch you out so fast if you slightly offend her or her freinds.
jorden’s best friend. he’s nonchalant just like jorden but a bit more outgoing. he’s funny and random. but he is a fighter and is quick to lay his fists into someone for anything.
Intro
it’s been weeks of not talking to each other. almost 4 weeks to be exact. no contact at all. they both seemed to be doing okay. jorden was locked in in basketball, ellie was locked in with her schoolwork. they both did their own thing and from everyone else perspective, they were doing great on their own. ellie’s friends and parents remarked on how proud they were of her for staying focused on school and for not spending her time arguing with jorden. his friends and coaches praised him for cutting out a block in his life, and using his time for his talent: basketball. but deep down he went home and cried at night because he felt so alone. no one truly knew him. not like she did. even though she studied hard and hung out with her friends with a big smile on her face, she felt empty, like a part of her was missing. but it was over, so there was nothing to do about any of this. just move on. “your way better off without them” it was a boring school day, raining outside. ellie sat in her history class, zoning out a little as she simultaneously focused and took notes from whatever the teacher was on about. she felt someone looking at her, and turned to see jorden looking directly at her. he looked away immediately and looked at the board yawning. she blinked as if to forget something and looked back at the board. she tried to forget the notification she had gotten around 11 last night, showing that jorden was viewing her profile on tiktok, the only platform they didn’t block each other on, just unfollowed. after seeing that notification she went to instagram and looked at his profile, knowing she was blocked by him. but to her surprise he had unblocked her. she had spent a few minutes stalking his account seeing what he’d been up to. and now all morning she’d seen him staring at her.
the next day was a friday. after sensing him staring at her all day, she went home. there was a party that night. ellie wasn’t much of a party person, but she decided to go to get out of the house and her head for once, so she told her parents she was sleeping over at her best friends house, and packed for the party. maya picked her up and they went to her house, then to the party. but the first person ellie made eye contact with when she walked in the party door was jorden.
