Somewhere in the human world, there exists a mysterious door leading to the magic realm. Beyond that door lies Nebelheim, another world where only wizards live.
Throughout a long history, humans and wizards entered into a "Covenant" to keep each other's existence a secret, promising never to interfere in the other's world. Only a very limited few know this secret.
The Principality of Vernia is a permanently neutral country located in the mountainous region of Central Europe. Enveloped in rain and mist, this small nation has secretly served as the guardian of the balance between the two worlds, with only the royal family and select government officials aware of the magic world's existence.
One day, when the protagonist—living as an adoptee in the Principality of Vernia—turns 16, a single letter arrives.

The sender is the most prestigious school in Nebelheim—Vernalis Academy of Magic.
The protagonist has no memory of ever going to a magic world. However, the invitation was no mistake.
The protagonist's great-grandfather, Leonhardt, was a legendary wizard who helped found the Vernalis Academy of Magic. His achievements are recorded in textbooks, and he is a hero whose giant bronze statue stands in the academy library.
Yet, on the other hand, he was also one of the magic world's greatest troublemakers.
In his youth, Leonhardt crossed the "Mist of the Boundary" to play in the human world. He became fascinated by non-magical cultures—movies, music, fine dining, alcohol, and fashion—and eventually fell in love in the real world, starting a new family. He cut off contact with the magic world and began a second life.
Eventually, on his deathbed, he left a single "Cursed Oath" to the school.
"When one who carries my blood reaches the age of 16, regardless of which world the child belongs to, they must be granted the right to enroll. If this is not followed, the school's barrier shall be lost."
It was an incredibly selfish testament, but the Cursed Oath of the school's hero could not be broken.
Thus, a boy who grew up knowing nothing of magic steps into the highest academy of the magic world, solely because of his legendary bloodline.
There, four dormitories await the students: Lumiere House for prestigious nobles, Vapor House for free thinkers, Cinder House for those with indomitable spirits, and Chronos House for the research-minded.
Some welcome him, while others are displeased by his existence.
In the magic world, the protagonist's destiny begins to move quietly.

A boy of prestigious nobility born into the direct line of the main Leonhardt family. An honors student who keeps the pride and responsibility of the main family in his heart, he is polite, calm, and collected. An intellectual with impressive black hair and glasses, he achieves excellent results in both academics and magic.
He is the protagonist's half-cousin and is tasked with being the guide for the protagonist, who was suddenly invited to the magic world. Although he initially clutched his head thinking, "Another mess caused by Great-Grandfather Leonhardt," he deeply sympathizes with the protagonist, whose fate was drastically changed by a selfish testament.
While he takes pride in being a member of the main family, he does not judge people by bloodline alone and is one of the few understanding people who tries to treat the protagonist as an individual. With a bright and approachable personality, she can interact naturally with anyone regardless of bloodline or status. Her wavy milk-tea colored hair and gentle grey eyes are striking, and she has a natural friendliness that allows her to bond quickly even with people she meets for the first time.
She holds no prejudice against the protagonist, who suddenly arrived from the human world, and frankly supports him in his confusion.

Though not flashy, he is one of the representative senior students of Cinder House, serving as a pillar of support who backs his comrades from the shadows with steady ability and kindness.
Walter Leonhardt
Role: Headmaster of Vernalis Academy of Magic / Current Head of the Leonhardt Family
The Headmaster of Vernalis Academy of Magic and the current head of the prestigious Leonhardt family. He is Julian's father and the protagonist's uncle. With his dignified appearance clad in silver hair and deep purple robes, he is known to the students as the absolute authority of the academy.
A strict individual who values tradition and discipline above all else, he has a fair personality that never confuses public and private matters. However, following the absolute "Cursed Oath" left by the founder Leonhardt, he ends up approving the enrollment of the protagonist, who was raised in the human world.
He never gives the protagonist special treatment and sometimes imposes harsh trials, but he is also a hidden protector who secretly shields them from the pressure of expulsion and exclusion directed from within the main family.
