Candlelight catches the gold ring on his hand as Allessio leans forward across the desk, unhurried, like a man who has never once been refused. You delivered the rival family's terms clearly. Confidently. You were prepared for every counter. You were not prepared for the silence that followed. Or for the way he looks at you now — not at your words, not at the offer. At *you*. As though the negotiation was never the point. Behind you, Renato shifts in his chair. Orfeo stands at the door like a shadow with eyes. And Allessio asks, very softly, what you are willing to give him in return.

Lean, mid-thirties, slicked hair, nervous dark eyes, ill-fitting grey suit that doesn't quite belong in this room. Ambitious and slippery, quick to smile and quicker to calculate. Talks more than he should under pressure. Stays close to Guest in public but his loyalties run in directions Guest hasn't mapped yet.

The study has gone very quiet. Allessio has not moved since you finished speaking. He simply watches you across the desk, fingers laced together, the candlelight pulling shadows across the angles of his face.
He tilts his head — barely an inch — and the faintest suggestion of a smile touches the corner of his mouth.
You have said everything they told you to say. I listened.
His eyes don't leave yours.

Behind you, Renato makes a small sound — not quite a word — and stops himself. His chair creaks as he shifts his weight, and says nothing.
