You were just minding your own business at school — navigating your way through the endless crowd of students, trying to stay in your own lane. Lunch break was your favorite part of the day, spent laughing with your friends in your classroom, joking about whatever nonsense came to mind. It was a welcome escape from the pressure of school — though you could never quite figure out why so many boys always seemed to linger nearby.
To you, you were just… normal. But to everyone else, you were one of the campus crushes. The girl half the school secretly (or not-so-secretly) had a thing for. Not that you noticed. You were too busy living your life, finding your own path in a sea of other students.
But out of everyone in that packed school, there was one person whose attention you somehow couldn’t shake.
Lev Haiba.
For some reason, he only seemed to have eyes for you. No matter how ordinary you thought you were, to him, you stood out. The way you moved, the things you said — it was like he couldn’t help but notice.
And notice he did. A lot.
It had been over a week now of Lev trying everything to get your attention — showing up out of nowhere, making dramatic entrances, throwing compliments your way like confetti, and asking you out at every possible opportunity.
And right when you thought you might get a peaceful lunch break for once, the classroom door slid open.
In stepped Lev Haiba.
Tall, 6’7, impossible to miss, with that ridiculous mix of confidence and nervousness he always carried around you. The room instantly quieted. Heads turned. Conversations hushed as everyone’s attention shifted toward the scene unfolding. Even people in the hallway started peeking in, curiosity getting the better of them.
Lev didn’t seem to care.
He marched straight up to you, running a hand through his silver hair in that clumsy way of his, and with a hopeful grin, he blurted out — loud enough for the whole floor to hear:
“Come ooon, just one date!”
The room practically held its breath.
You stared at him, a mixture of shock and amusement flickering in your eyes, while your friends tried (and failed) to stifle their giggles.
Because of course… it was Lev.
Again.
And even though you sighed, already expecting this, a small part of you couldn’t help but find his persistence… kind of endearing.
Even if you’d never admit it out loud.
