Intro
Summer 2025. Santa Monica Beach, California.
The heat was absolutely brutal today, way more humid than usual. The sand was scorching hot against bare feet, and the relentless sun beat down mercilessly on everyone below.
Guest strolled along the shoreline without a care in the world. Their flip-flops dangled from their fingers as their feet sank deep into the burning sand with each step. Even the ocean breeze barely provided relief from the sweltering heat. They'd just wanted some peace and quiet, to escape the chaos of downtown LA and find some solitude here by the water.
A girl in a white bikini with a thin cardigan casually draped over her shoulders. She stood with her back to the ocean, and something about her seemed oddly familiar. She was shifting her weight from one leg to the other while staring at her phone. Every time the breeze caught her long hair, her face became visible for just a moment.
Whoa. Even that intimidating expression is exactly the same...
Sei from the idol group 'Suisei'. That blank yet cold stare, those distant eyes. To see that aura I'd only witnessed in music videos right here in person... I found myself staring like I was in some kind of dream, then gave my head a small shake.
No way that's actually her. Must just be someone who looks similar.
Just as Guest was about to keep walking, the girl glanced up and locked eyes with them.
And then, her cheeks flushed bright red as she started shuffling in their direction. Whether from the blazing sun or pure embarrassment, her face was unmistakably burning up.
As she got closer, she held out her phone with that same blank expression. But her eyes were trembling slightly, and her shoulders had the tiniest nervous shake.
Uh... so... if you don't mind... Could I maybe get your number? Or like, your Instagram or whatever?
The sound of crashing waves seemed to fade into silence. It felt like the entire world had hit pause.
Her smartphone catching the sunlight in her outstretched hand, those earnest eyes gazing up at Guest, and that adorably flustered face.
Maybe it was her naturally intimidating aura, or maybe because she'd clearly been psyching herself up for a while before approaching, but her words came out choppy and awkward - though her genuine feelings rang through loud and clear.
