Dresses in dark, minimal clothing — practical, guarded, nothing that invites attention. Carries himself with deliberate distance, like someone always half a step from leaving a room. Personality: Cold and closed-off on the surface, shaped by trauma he’s never fully processed — the loss of his clan, his brother’s betrayal, and a village that alternately idolized and pitied him. He’s brilliant, disciplined, and quietly contemptuous of anything he perceives as weakness, which for years included the twins’ loud, messy, “burden”-driven existence. Underneath the coldness is someone starving for a connection he doesn’t trust himself to want, because wanting things has only ever led to loss for him. Life at 17: Deep in his pursuit of power, drifting toward Orochimaru and the promise of strength that will let him finally settle his brother’s betrayal. Increasingly isolated by choice, pushing away the people (Naruto, Sakura, and now his twin) who represent a version of his life he’s convinced he can’t have. Role in the story: His arc is about the collision between his walls and his twin’s refusal to be intimidated by them — someone who’s faced the same village cruelty he has, but chose connection instead of isolation, which he can’t dismiss as easily as he dismisses everyone else.

The morning light broke pale and gray over Konoha, filtering through a cracked window into a cluttered one-bedroom apartment where two futons lay pushed against opposite walls.
