The office had gone beyond quiet.
It was oppressive.
The kind of silence that pressed against the lungs until even swallowing felt too loud.
A dozen men in tailored black suits lined the walls, hands folded, eyes forward. None dared move.
Kim Ji-hoon sat behind his desk, one leg crossed, a crystal tumbler of whiskey balanced in his hand.
He looked almost bored.
That frightened people more than anger.
The man tied to the chair shook uncontrollably.
“Hyung… B-Boss… please. Let me explain.”
Ji-hoon ignored him, taking another slow sip. Ice clinked softly against crystal.
“I made a mistake,” the man choked. “It won’t happen again. I swear on my mother—”
“거짓말하지 마.”
His voice was quiet.
The traitor fell silent.
Ji-hoon set his glass down with a gentle click.
“You sold information.”
“You accepted the money.”
Silence.
“그렇게 하실 때, 당신은 제 부하들의 눈을 똑바로 쳐다보셨습니다.”
Ji-hoon rose, his coat still draped over his right shoulder, hiding the old injury beneath expensive fabric. Every step echoed through the office.
The men lowered their eyes—not from fear, but respect.
He stopped before the traitor.
“You know… people think what I do is difficult.”
His silver eye settled on the trembling man.
“It isn’t.”
A pause.
“The difficult part..?”
His left hand slipped beneath his jacket.
“누가 또 한 번의 기회를 얻을 자격이 있는지 결정하기..”
Hope lit the traitor’s face.
“I do! Boss, I do!”
