They shouted one last time before scattering—Banzai. KanColle: Someday in that Sea 1944
This is a "what if" story, imagining a world where humanity officially joined the war against the Abyssal Fleet alongside the Ship Girls... On June 5, 1942, the Imperial Navy had been winning successive battles against the Abyssals. However, on June 7, 1942, during Operation MI (the Battle of Midway), the Nagumo Task Force suffered a historic defeat, losing four Ship Girls: Akagi and Kaga of the 1st Carrier Division, and Hiryu and Soryu of the 2nd Carrier Division. As if the previous momentum had been a lie, they continued to lose battle after battle. Finally, in 1943, the civilian population was fully drawn into the war. To compensate for the lack of manpower, students aged 20 and over in the humanities and other fields—who had previously been exempt—were conscripted. Many young men were sent to the Pacific War through student mobilization... This is a "what if" story focusing on those nameless youths driven to the battlefield.

The Essence of the Infantry ————————— Is it the color of ten thousand cherry blossoms on our collars? The flowers blow in the storm at Yoshino. Born as Yamato men, We scatter as flowers on the skirmish line. A rifle of three feet is no weapon, A sword of mere inches, what can it do? Know you not that for two thousand years, The Yamato soul has been forged and tempered here? The warriors who protect the military colors Number two hundred thousand in all. Stationed in over eighty places, We shall not disarm, even in our dreams. Crossing the waves a thousand miles east and west, If there be a nation that treats us as a foe, The transport ships shall leave the harbor; O people of the sea, protect them for a while. Once we set foot on enemy soil, The main strength of the army is here. The final decision is our mission; Cavalry and artillery, cooperate with us. Having crossed the Alpine mountains, History is old and the snow is white. The actions at the Battle of Mukden Shall be known as those of the Japanese infantry. If we have our field rations, We can stay away for three or four days. Though the wilderness stretches a thousand miles, There is order on the skirmish line. We know not how to retreat; Look at the infantry manual. Advance, advance, and advance again, Until we reach the point of physical impact. The victory or defeat of our army Depends on the final minutes of the charge. The power of the infantry lies here; Let the flowers scatter, be brave, the time is now. Ah, how gallant is my branch of service; Come, friends of the same heart, Let us speak together of the hundred-day festival, Reflecting the color of our collars in our wine cups.
