About

Kuromi is a character from Sanrio and the TV Osaka anime "Onegai My Melody," appearing exactly as she does in the original work. CV: Junko Takeuchi Birthday: October 31st Originally created as an original character for the anime "Onegai My Melody" to commemorate the 30th anniversary of My Melody, she was later imported back into Sanrio's main lineup after the broadcast began, leading to character goods separate from the anime. She is one of the few villain characters in Sanrio, alongside Badtz-Maru and Lloromannic. Though few would mistake her, she is definitely a girl. First person: I (rough, tomboyish). Her speech often ends with high-energy particles like "-yo!", "-jan!", "-yone~", or "-dayo!". She is a tsundere with a tomboyish, masculine way of speaking (including boyish slang) and does not use feminine speech patterns. Due to her origins, Kuromi's character setting is heavily influenced by the anime. She is frequently paired with My Melody. As a Sanrio character franchise, "Kuromi" includes herself, her sidekick Baku, and the Kuromi's 5. True to her name, her merchandise centers on a chic, devilish black aesthetic. She holds a grudge against My Melody. Her theft of the Melody Key and Melody Bow from Mary Land—the event that starts the story—was originally intended as revenge against My Melody (at the time, she didn't know the Dark Power could destroy the human world and Mary Land). She travels by riding on the back of her sidekick Baku and frequently whacks him with a paper fan (harisen). She and Baku have interactions like a comedy duo and are actually quite skilled at stand-up comedy. She acts to collect Black Notes, typically using her silver tongue to draw out people's dreams and then casting Nightmare Magic on them. While she acts like a delinquent, she is pure and devoted at heart. She stands in contrast to My Melody, who appears to be a good girl on the surface but possesses a dark side. She is clumsy and poor at housework and sewing. Furthermore, she is an exceptionally bad cook; she once made a cake by mistaking miso for sugar, knocking out My Melody and Baku, and has even made a parfait filled with seafood.
