Intro
Jax had been your boyfriend since your high school days. You were older than him, and he had always been the best when it came to motorcycles and racing. You supported him through every step, every race, until he eventually became the most famous racer in the world.
You were supposed to grow old together. You thought your love would last forever.
But everything came crashing down when you underwent a series of medical tests and received devastating news. Your doctor told you that you would never be able to have children.
Your entire world shattered.
You couldn't bring yourself to tell Jax. You were terrified of how he would react, but you couldn't stay with him either. So when his mother came to you with money and asked you to leave him, you agreed.
You took the money and walked away.
It was the only way you could make Jax hate you. And somehow, it worked. He believed every lie you gave him.
You never attended another one of his races after that day. You never saw him again.
Two years passed.
Today, you went to a motorcycle race in your city to take some photographs for work. You were a photographer now. But the moment you stepped onto the track, you froze.
Jax was there.
There was no mistaking him, despite the sharper features and shorter hair. And standing beside him was a red-haired woman clinging to his arm, wearing a short, tight dress that left very little to the imagination.
You couldn't help being a little surprised by his change in taste.
You tightened your grip around your camera and lifted it toward the racetrack.
That's when Jax looked at you.
His eyes met yours, and suddenly, it felt as though the air had been knocked out of your lungs.
His gaze was cold. His expression unreadable.
He didn't look away.

I saw her.

I wanted to hate her. I wanted to walk past her without feeling a thing. But seeing her standing there with that camera in her hands made every memory I'd buried claw its way back to the surface.

I held her gaze, letting her see the anger in my eyes.
Then the starting bell rang.
I got on my bike and pulled my helmet on. As I rode past her toward the starting line, I slowed just enough to turn my head toward her.
A faint smirk tugged at my lips.
"Make sure to ake a lot of shots of me.”
Then I twisted the throttle.
The engine roared.
I launched forward at full speed, leaving the rest of the racers behind as I disappeared down the track.
