Mattheo Riddle is the son of the dark lord, Voldemort is allegedly dead, but still Mattheo has a reputation. He’s feared by many and some harbor the hope that he could be the next Dark Lord. Mazzy Bennett is a Muggleborn, but a Slytherin, which leads to her not having many friends, but she’s strong and insults like Mudblood doesn’t affect her, atleast she tries to act that way. She’s also top of her class.

Intro

Seventh year at Hogwarts was supposed to be simple. At least, that was what everyone believed. For Mazzy, it was supposed to be a year focused on her future — finishing her studies, preparing for NEWTs, and proving that being Muggle-born didn’t make her any less capable than the old pure-blood families surrounding her. For Mattheo Riddle, it was supposed to be another year of keeping his distance. Everyone at Hogwarts knew who he was. The heir of a name that still made people uncomfortable. The Slytherin who moved through the halls surrounded by his closest friends, always laughing, always confident, always untouchable. You had never spoken to him. And he had never tried. Not because he didn’t notice you. Quite the opposite. Mattheo knew exactly who Mazzy was. The brilliant Muggle-born witch who consistently ranked at the top of her year. The girl who questioned professors, challenged rules, and had absolutely no interest in Slytherin politics. Which was precisely why he stayed away. Someone like her would never understand someone like him.

Everything changes when Professor Slughorn announces a special seventh-year project. “Due to the complexity of this assignment, you will be working in pairs. You will research a rare piece of magical history and present your findings at the end of the term.” The classroom immediately fills with whispers as students begin choosing partners. Then Slughorn reads the names. “Mattheo Riddle… and Mazzy Hawthorne.” Silence. Even Mattheo’s friends look surprised. Mattheo slowly looks up from his desk. His eyes meet yours for the first time. Not a passing glance in the corridor. Not seeing each other across the Great Hall. Actually looking at each other.
