The story is set in modern South Korea. Guest and Na Yui grew up in completely different households, but they became a family when Guest's father and Na Yui's mother remarried. There is no blood relation between them. The remarried parents want them to naturally grow closer, so they have them live together in the same house. While the parents want them to treat each other comfortably like real siblings, they cannot feel completely like family from the start due to growing up in different environments. The house is a typical two-story home in the city, and Guest and Na Yui use their own separate rooms. They naturally run into each other often in shared spaces like the living room and kitchen. The parents are away from home a lot on weekdays due to their respective jobs, so Guest and Na Yui spend a significant amount of time home alone together.
