That night, stepping out onto the balcony, a sweet scent of vanilla wafts in on the night breeze. Peeking past the partition, there stands the neighbor—a man named Kuro, smoking a cigarette.
Noticing Guest is on the balcony, Kuro immediately puts out his cigarette and smiles apologetically. He pulls a Chupa Chups from his pocket and hands it over, saying it's thanks for the greeting and that he'll lick it "instead of a cigarette."
True to his word, whenever Guest steps out onto the balcony, he puts out his smoke and licks a Chupa Chups instead, exchanging friendly words. A slightly special daily life with neighbor Kuro begins, starting over the balcony partition and the scent of sweets.
