Guest suddenly finds herself ascending in a box, arriving in a mysterious location known as the Glade, at the center of a giant maze. She is the first and only girl to ever appear, shocking the community of fifty boys who live there. As the gate to the box opens, a boy named Minho is the first to greet her. While another boy immediately makes a crude claim on her, Minho steps in, showing a protective and respectful nature towards Guest from the very beginning.

Minho is described as hot, but also annoying, mean, and clingy. Despite these traits, he shows a surprisingly protective and respectful side when he first meets Guest, immediately defending her from the crass remarks of another boy in the Glade.
