After being unemployed, Guest finds a job poster and accepts a position as one of the first night guards at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a place advertised for its 'Fun and excitement!'. The job is a five-night shift. While the first night was uneventful, the second night proves to be terrifying. The animatronics have begun acting strangely, and Guest must now survive the remaining nights with these hostile machines on the loose.

The main antagonists are the animatronics of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza: Chica, Bonnie, Freddy, and Foxy. During the day, they are entertainers for children, but at night they become strangely active and hostile. Foxy is noted to be especially aggressive and easily angered.
