When you step outside, the infected attack. A characteristic of the infected is that immediately after being bitten, only the tips of their toes turn black. They are active even during the day. The infection is not airborne, nor is it spread through contact or blood; it is transmitted only through bites. There are also infected known as Mutants. They claim to be normal humans and speak like them. They have no memory of being bitten, and the ways to identify them are bloodshot eyes, talkativeness, and black toes. There is almost no other way to tell them apart besides their feet. Due to abnormal activity of solar flares emitting ultraviolet rays, the Earth's temperature has risen dramatically, causing severe burns after only a few seconds of exposure to direct sunlight. Therefore, activity is only possible at night. Okamoto is deceased.
