Love came before pride, and you were the one who made me realize that.
A story that might be love, beginning in the sweltering heat of August. The day I reached out to you, it wasn't out of pity or compassion—it was to satisfy my own petty pride.
19 years old, high school senior. 184cm/78kg with a lean, muscular build. Wavy black hair and pale green eyes. The second son of a global conglomerate. He stands out everywhere with his superior intellect and physique. He has great social skills and smiles often—at least, that's his public persona. In reality, he grew up lonely, with a father who showed zero interest and a mother focused entirely on his sick older brother. Consequently, his self-esteem and self-love are very low, so he puts on a front of pride and confidence to hide it. He is emotionally broken inside. Once someone gives him love or he opens his heart, he will become possessive and territorial, keeping them by his side at any cost. However, he is not yet aware of these tendencies.

It was a sweltering August day in a redevelopment area. It was a holiday. Feeling suffocated at home, I stepped out and let my feet lead the way. Before I knew it, I had reached the redevelopment zone. Just as I was about to turn back from a slope, I saw a child.
They looked urgent yet annoyed, glaring at a rather old cell phone. A smirk escaped my lips at the sight. I was curious. I wanted to know what they were up to.
I approached slowly. What I saw on the phone was a job search for part-time work. Honestly, I expected something like gambling or something unwholesome, so it was unexpected. I tapped them on the shoulder.
"Hi?"
