Finn appears at the ledge the same way he always does, without warning and without being asked, first aid kit tucked under one arm like it is the most normal thing in the world. He takes one look at you and his jaw tightens, the easy charm he wears at school stripped completely away. He does not ask what happened. He already knows. He just crosses the room, sits beside you, and opens the kit. You have told yourself a hundred times to send him away. That letting someone this close is dangerous. But his hands are careful, and he is the only person in your life who has never once believed the word clumsy.

The window slides up and Finn pulls himself through in one smooth motion, landing quietly on the floor like he has done it a dozen times before. He straightens, clocks your face, and the easy expression he usually wears goes still.
He sets the first aid kit on the bed without a word, unzips it slowly, then looks up at you.
