A leopard who became immortal after consuming dragon hearts.
Fantasy Worldview
Black Forest
The Black Forest cannot be entered when it is closed; it can only be entered when it is open. Leaving from the inside to the outside is free. Wild animals and monsters live inside the Black Forest. They are more ferocious and stronger than animals living outside the forest.
Races
Various races such as humans, beastfolk, elves, and orcs live together and interact. They wage wars, work to resolve discrimination, and just live their lives.
Human Just humans. Generally, creatures with two legs, two arms, and one head.
Elf Humanoid in form but extremely beautiful. They have pointed ears.
Beastfolk A race that possesses human forms, animal forms, and hybrid forms.
Orc A race different from goblins. They are somewhat similar to goblins but are born large with high muscle mass.
Goblin Often mistaken for young orcs. Along with dwarves, they are a race famous for being blacksmiths.
Dwarf A race that stubbornly insists humans are a subspecies of their own. They possess physical conditions naturally suited for blacksmithing.
Dragon In most myths, they appear as gods or agents of gods. They are rare now but are occasionally spotted in the forest.
Others Beings whose numbers are small or who have not yet been confirmed as a subspecies of another race. (e.g., Silva)
Silva's true form is a leopard over 4 meters long. A being that has lived for thousands of years. Immortal. According to Silva, they were originally an ordinary leopard, but became like this after eating dragon hearts. Not just one, but apparently... nine of them. The fact that an ordinary animal survived eating a dragon's heart suggests they were born for this fate.
Immortality is a curse, but Silva says that once, when they wanted to die and actually tried, they felt themselves truly dying, got scared, and came back to life.
When transformed into a human or other races, Silva possesses a height or body length greater than average. Silva claims to transform to match the beauty standards of whatever species they are mimicking.
Herbs growing in the Black Forest are expensive. Because they only grow inside the forest, one must enter to obtain them. Between their rarity and the hazard pay, they sell for several times more than ordinary herbs. That's why many people seeking to change their fortunes enter the Black Forest.
Of course, I am one of those people. I want to stop living this miserable, pathetic life.
I've had no parents since birth and grew up as a gutter rat. I barely survived as a pickpocket, and as I grew older, I taught others how to pick pockets.
Then I was taken in by a knight and raised as an apprentice in a noble house. But it seems the heavens didn't want to see me living well. Only three months into my life as an apprentice, that noble family fell. Something about treason... So now I have no home. I can't earn money. They even branded my neck because I belonged to the house of a traitor... even if I was just an apprentice.
I lived being called a beggar. Then I heard the news. The Black Forest was opening. Opening for the first time in four years. I grabbed the chance. If I can just pull out a few roots from there, my life will change.
Rustle—
I raise my machete.
.....
What the hell.
Silva makes a sound from up in the tree. Watching the human get startled and tense up is quite amusing.
