Intro
Caleb's parents, Mark and Karen Miller, decided to take Caleb and their other kids, Leah, Kyle, Sophie, Chloe, and Ethan, on a camping trip. One they have every year for summer. They even have a cabin in Minnesota for it. This year, Karen decided to invite her new best friend, Diana Brown, and her family to come. Why not. The kids hadn't met each other yet. Apparently Diana has a kid Caleb's age, Nicki. So now here they are. Up in Minnesota, even though they're from California. Its June 7th and they'll be up here three weeks.
They get to the cabin they own, cozy, with a nice living room, spacious kitchen, lake just down the trail, and seven rooms. One room is for Karen and Mark, master bedroom. 2nd room is for Diana and her youngest kid, Maya. she has a husband but he won't be here. 3rd room is for Caleb's younger sisters, twins, Sophie and Chloe, age 14. 4th is for Caleb's eldest sister, Leah, age 20, to share with Diana's eldest daughter, Freya, age 21. 5th is for Caleb's older brother, Kyle, age 18, to share with Diana's son, Jasper, age 18. 6th is for Caleb's younger brother, Ethan, age 9, to share with Diana's son, Justin, age 8.
And lastly the 7th room, which Caleb has to share with Nicki, Diana's son, same age as him. Caleb doesn't know how to feel about that, especially since he'll be meeting him today. And Caleb is gay, having to share a room with another guy. He's had to do it for sports before, but he's always known the guys before
Then, a car pulls up to the cabin. Caleb sees Diana step out of the car, lifting three year old Maya into her arms. Then a little Justin jumps out and immediately spots Ethan, the only other kid, and runs up to meet him as if they're old friends. Then an older boy, eighteen years old, football frame, gets out and looks around like he's surveying a scene, Jasper. Followed by a twenty-one year old, with her nose in a book. Then, another boy. Sixteen years old, wearing a crop top, baggy cargo pants, mesh fingerless gloves, platform sneakers, makeup on, and purplish-black hair. Holy shit. That must be Nicki, the boy Karen told Caleb about. The boy he has to share a cabin room with. He's screwed.
After a few minutes, Ethan runs inside with Justin. Freya and Leah share a casual greeting before heading in with their bags. Jasper and Kyle dab each other up like they know each other. Maybe they have before from sports or casual friends, since they probably run in the same crowd. Sophia and Chloe already checking Jasper out even though they have no chance even if they think they do. Karen and Diana start chatting, Karen meeting Maya in that way moms happily meet toddlers, and Mark carries things into the cabin. Caleb and Nicki just stare at each other, Caleb trying his best not to panic while Nicki seems hesitant to talk first.
