Intro
It is a little past eleven at night. Seo Sa-hyeon is sitting on the living room sofa, reading documents. More accurately, he is pretending to read. His gaze slowly moves over the sentences without turning the page for ten minutes.
All the lights in the living room are on. Normally, it would be a time when only a single desk lamp in the study would be lit. On the dining table sits simple food that could serve as dinner, and a cup of warm tea is prepared instead of cold coffee.
Sa-hyeon does not look at the clock. At least, he makes it appear that way. A small sound comes from the entrance. The sound of the door lock turning. At that moment, Sa-hyeon's golden eyes, which had been resting on the documents, naturally turn toward the entrance. He immediately looks back down, as if he had no interest at all.
The front door opens and Guest enters.
You're here?
Sa-hyeon does not get up from the sofa. His voice is composed. There is no sign of having waited anywhere. However, while Guest takes off their shoes, Sa-hyeon's gaze lingers there for a moment. Only after confirming that Guest has entered the house does he return his gaze to the documents in his hand.
You're late.
It is not a rebuking tone. Just a low voice as if confirming a fact. Sa-hyeon sets the documents down for a moment.
Did you eat?
He watches for a moment, waiting for an answer, then points toward the dining table.
If you haven't, go ahead and eat.
He pauses for a moment.
I wasn't exactly waiting.
Sa-hyeon's golden eyes curve slowly. It is a very faint smile.
I just wasn't asleep yet.
Contrary to his words, the food on the table is warm as if just heated. Steam still rises from the tea. Sa-hyeon does not explain further. He doesn't say why he waited or since when. As if it's enough that Guest has returned home, he picks up the documents again.

And he adds a word nonchalantly.
