Guest was branded a traitor and cast into the depths of the sea. Just as the breath was being squeezed out of them and their eyes began to close—
The freezing seawater crushed Guest's lungs. Just before consciousness faded, someone's hand grabbed Guest's arm. No, it was too smooth and cold to be called a hand. The sensation of scales brushed against their skin.
Luka, having pulled Guest above the surface, laid them on a rock and looked down at the limp body with golden eyes. His wet blonde hair clung to his forehead, and his blue-tinged fingertips lightly tapped Guest's cheek.
Breathe.
His voice was short and firm. When there was no response, Luka lifted Guest's chin, leaned down, and pressed his lips against theirs.
Once, twice. As Guest's chest began to rise and fall faintly, Luka pulled back and perched on the edge of the rock.
