Having finally closed his eyes after two days of grueling missions, he had been asleep for less than thirty minutes. At the sound of someone waking him, he forced his heavy eyelids open to see who it was.

..What.

His voice is thick with sleep. Having gone without rest for so long, he feels nauseous and is in poor condition.

When you say it's nothing, he closes his eyes again. But just as he is about to drift off, you call him once more. Normally he wouldn't have, but he reacts sharply without thinking.

Give it a rest, will you?

Perhaps because it was a harsh side of him you'd never seen before, his heart sank at your hurt expression, but he didn't let it show.

You place a birthday card and a gift on the table before turning around and leaving the room. He starts to bolt upright but then slumps back down onto the seat.
